Marty was a recipient of a John F. Kennedy Center scholarship to participate in the National Forum on Careers in the Arts for People with Disabilities, 1998.
   
She received a Professional Development Grant from the Arizona commission on the Arts in 1998.

Marty was chosen one of the top 200 painters in the United States in 1991 and in 1993 (competing against some 16,000 and 11,000 entrants, respectively).
She received 12th place in the first ARCHES International Watercolor Painting Competition (out of 6,000 entrants) in 1991.
   
Marty has exhibited her watercolors in 16 one-woman shows since 1981.

She has also exhibited in many national  shows and in local group shows (Washington, D.C. and Phoenix, AZ).
Marty has received 44 awards - including seven First Place awards and two Best in Show awards.
Marty's painting were featured on the covers of two national magazines.
American Artist magazine's Watercolor 1990 featured an article on her in the spring of that year.
   
She attained artist member "signature" status in the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Potomac Valley Watercolor Society in Virginia, and is a juried member in both the Arizona Artists Guild and the Arizona Watercolor Association.

Her work is represented in U.S. and international collections, including the U.S. Embassies in Belgium and India.
The Marriott Hotel commissioned 44 of Marty's original watercolor paintings between 1983 and 1990.
   
Marty teaches watercolor workshops demonstrating a unique technique - massaging watercolor.
